Due to last night’s severe weather, we are experiencing a few power outages across our district and Entergy has not provided an estimated time for restoration. As a result, 5 schools will be closed Friday, May 17.
Here’s the list of schools:
• Audubon Elementary
• Forest Heights Elementary
• McKinley Middle
• Sherwood Middle
• Baton Rouge Magnet High
UPDATE: Park Medical and Glen Oaks Park are also closed today.

"What Do We Do Next?" was the theme of Southeast Middle School`s 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on Wednesday. For the 312 students, it`s high school. For Principal Shalonda Simoneaux, it`s retirement. "You will forever be the class that sent me into retirement — and I say that with love," said Simoneaux, who is retiring this year after 30 years in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. In a heartfelt message, Simoneaux said she plans to see the class members for high school graduations in 2028. #WeAreEBR #ebrschools
