Taste the very best in local boilers as they compete for the Crawfish King Title on May 1, 2015, "Backstage" of Live After Five concert. The 2nd Annual Global Community Day is coming to downtown Baton Rouge's North Boulevard Town Square (Galvez Plaza) on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 1PM - 6PM. Musical Entertainment will be held in conjunction with Sunday in the Park. This is a popular event featuring a wide variety of dance numbers on the Galvez Stage, plus amazing food and cultural booths set in a festival atmosphere born of the international cultures alive and well right here in our Capital City. This is always a great event for students, families and children, each year increasing awareness and celebrating differences in the cultures from around the globe that make up our wonderful city.

USS Kidd: Twilight Tours
The USS KIDD Veterans Museum hosts exclusive, adults only Twilight Tours twice a month throughout the fall. Twilight Tours will take guests behind the scenes of the KIDD and will focus on content that regular tours are not normally exposed to due to its more graphic nature. Only 15 tickets will be sold per Twilight Tour in order to fully engage participants throughout the evening. These unforgettable nights will culminate with drinks on the decks of our historic ship while watching the sunset over the Mississippi River. "Twilight Tours allows the public to learn of the KIDD and her crew and the dangerous environment in which they served in an unvarnished and uncensored manner," said USS KIDD Ship Superintendent Tim NesSmith. Must be 21 years or older to participate. Cost is $25 per person and includes two drinks. Please call 225-342-1942 to pre-register or for more information.

Red Stick Farmer's Market
Join BREADA for the first Saturday of the month, May 2, for a day of fun, fresh produce, arts and more. Bring the kids out for face painting and the return of the Arts Market. Also this week, the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners will be returning with tips for growing local vegetables. Local vendors and food artisans will be offering a variety of Ponchatoula strawberries, pastured pork & chicken, fresh-caught seafood, vegetable plants, native wines, cheeses, prepared meals, cheese, fresh eggs, artisan breads, baked goods and more. The Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration inside Main Street Market will take place at 10 a.m. in the North Street seating area featuring fresh and local ingredients from the market in seasonal recipes. This week's cooking demonstration will feature Maggie Richardson of 225 Dine. Pick up some cooking tips and sample her dish this Saturday.
