Live After Five - DUMPSTAPHUNK
Live after Five in Downtown Baton Rouge is the Capital City's premier FREE outdoor concert series. The Spring season continues with New Orleans Funk band DUMPSTAPHUNK! Live After Five Concerts are held on Fridays from 5PM-8PM in North Boulevard Town Square under the award winning Crest sculpture. Make sure to check out the LINE-UP because you aren't going to want to miss a show!

Long Summer Nights: Steve Earle & The Dukes at Manship
A protégé of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Earle quickly became a master storyteller in his own right, with his songs being recorded by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, The Pretenders, Joan Baez and countless others. 1986 saw the release of his debut record, Guitar Town, which shot to number one on the country charts and immediately established the term "New Country." Don't miss this great performance at the Manship Theatre!

Downtown Clean-Up Day
Join Keep BR Beautiful Saturday and help clean up our beautiful Downtown Baton Rouge from 8:30AM-11AM. This is a great company outing and team-building exercise. Please get your business involved. All supplies will be provided. Just show up to the Hotel Indigo (200 Convention St.) or the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown (462 Lafayette St.) to get your supplies. Participants are encouraged to wear a red shirt. This is a joint partnership between Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful and The Baton Rouge Lodging Association.

Heritage Lecture: Author Maggie Heyn Richardson
The Foundation for Historical Louisiana's May Heritage Lecture will feature Baton Rouge author Maggie Heyn Richardson discussing her new book, "Hungry for Louisiana: An Omnivore's Journey." The book is one of the latest book releases from LSU Press. At the lecture, Richardson will share her insights into Louisiana cuisine and its inherent effect on the state's distinctive culture and its people. Richardson will autograph books after the lecture.

Capoeira in Town Square
Join Capoeira Baton Rouge in North Boulevard Town Square at Galvez Plaza for FREE basic Capoeira classes on Wednesdays at 7PM and Sundays at 6PM. Capoeira is a Brazilian art form which combines fight, dance, and rhythmic movements that are performed in a dialog between players. Students can expect to learn basic Capoeira movements and acrobatics in order to enhance ones flexibility and general muscle strength. Most of the classes start with a brief warm-up and learning Capoeira, movements through strength, technique, history, and music. By doing Capoeira people get connected with Brazilian and African culture in many different forms.

The Race benefit the athletes of the Baton Rouge Girls Athletic Organization. The purpose of our program is to help promote and develop female amateur athletes and to increase playing skills by participation at the local, state, and national levels. The goal within the Baton Rouge Lady Tigers surpasses just mere athletics and leads us into a much more detailed mission. Join this race to support this great group of women!

Yoga for Veterans at the Kidd
The USS KIDD Veterans Museum is proud to announce that it will begin expanding its educational outreach programs by adding alternative therapy programs for veterans in the form of yoga classes, art therapy and gardening. The first yoga class will be held at 6PM on Wednesday, May 13th, in the museum lobby.

Join BREADA at the market this Saturday, May 16, and support your local farmers. Bring the kids out to check in at the Sprouts table for their complementary $2 in tokens so the whole family can participate. Farmers and food artisans will be offering leafy greens, zucchini, squash, native wines, cheese, prepared meals, fresh eggs, artisan breads, jellies and more. Don't forget, May is garden month, so stop by the coffee booth to sign up for garden plant giveaways. Local vendors will also have fresh flowers and vegetable plants. This week's Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration will feature Richard Hanley of Hanley's Salad Dressings. The demonstration will take place inside Main Street Market at 10AM in the North Street seating area featuring fresh and local ingredients from the market in seasonal recipes. Pick up some cooking tips and sample his dish this Saturday.
