Raise the Woof at Manship
A stand up comedy tour that works with local animal welfare organizations in the cities in which it plays, Raise the Woof gives a voice to animals through laughter while spreading awareness and helping raise funds. This fun-filled evening will feature a three-comedian show starring James Uloth, a silent auction, 50/50 Split-the-Pot Raffle, light hors d'oeuvres, live music and a cash bar. All proceeds from the evening will benefit Spay Baton Rouge.

CANN 5K
The Gamma Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Ivy Foundation, Inc. and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, is pleased to announce our inaugural Changing and Advancing Nutrition Now (CANN) 5K Run/Walk. The goal of the CANN Run/Walk 5K is to promote awareness of childhood hunger and to raise money for college scholarships for high school students in the Greater Baton Rouge area. The CANN 5K will take place in downtown Baton Rouge on May 30 at 9:00AM. Official race results will be provided by Cajun Timers.

The LSU Museum of Art presents a special Neighborhood Arts Project Kick Off Celebration on Sunday May 31, from 1-3PM, in partnership with Bethel AME Church. Join LSUMOA for a FREE afternoon of art making designed for all ages and abilities, celebrating our new community partner site in a beautiful grassy lot opposite Bethel AME Church at 1558 South Boulevard with free hotdogs donated by Trader Joes.

Capoeira in Town Square
Join Capoeira Baton Rouge in North Boulevard Town Square at Galvez Plaza for FREE basic Capoeira classes on Wednesdays at 7PM and Sundays at 6PM. Capoeira is a Brazilian art form which combines fight, dance, and rhythmic movements that are performed in a dialog between players. Students can expect to learn basic Capoeira movements and acrobatics in order to enhance ones flexibility and general muscle strength. Most of the classes start with a brief warm-up and learning Capoeira, movements through strength, technique, history, and music. By doing Capoeira people get connected with Brazilian and African culture.

Summer tomatoes, corn, blueberries and eggplant are now in season at the Farmers Market. Stop by the Market coffee booth to sign up for garden giveaways this Saturday in celebration of garden month. Inside Main Street Market, Dr. Gary Ross will be the special guest for the 10AM Fresh from the Market show with a talk on how to attract butterflies to your garden. Kids can also enjoy a special butterfly art activity at the Red Stick Sprouts tent.
