Exploring the Universe: Probing the Heavens with Galileo
In 1609, Galileo Galilei was the first person known to point a telescope skyward and to observe the moon, sun, planets, and stars. In this new digital sky show, Galileo himself makes an appearance to explain what the universe was like during his lifetime, why people thought the visible planets and sun orbited the earth, and what he discovered with his telescope that changed how we see our place in the cosmos today.
Also currently playing: The Zula Patrol: Under the Weather, Digital Universe, Mystery of the Nile, Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure, Voices in the Dark, and Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon.

Arts Market This Weekend
Over 50 artists from four states will be on hand this Saturday, August 1st from 8 a.m. - 12 noon at 5th at Main Street. Begin your weekend by shopping at the Arts Market! Items available include jewelry, pottery, metal sculpture, stained glass, hand made soaps, birdhouses, wind chimes, hand knit garments, photography, and lots more.

If you are interested in selling your artwork at the Arts Market, the next quarterly application deadline is Friday, August 7. Applications are available at the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge website.

Happy's Run Club
Happy's Run Club runs every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. (run begins at 6:15 sharp) - Starting at the Roux House Patio on 3rd Street downtown. The runs rotate between 3 routes in order to keep things fresh. Don't worry, maps are provided before the weekly run. The club was started in 2008 by Scott Higgins and Michael Lang with the support of Jack Warner and Happy's Irish Pub. The sole philosophy of the club is also our motto: "Run... drink... and be HAPPY!"

Red Stick Farmer's Market
Everything Eggplant Fresh Fest continues at the Red Stick Farmers Market and Main Street Market with "Everything Eggplant" this Saturday. Local Chef & Caterer Don Bergeron of Don Bergeron Enterprises utilizes the late summer's bounty to create unique eggplant dishes with his signature Cajun flair. He joins Chef Celeste Gill for the Fresh from the Market cooking show at 10 am in the North Street entrance of Main Street Market.
