LSU Tiger Trails kicks off!
LSU Tiger Trails Transit began full-scale operations August 24. The service is FREE to LSU riders and to the general public. With a total of 6 Downtown stops, the Tiger Trails system is fully equipped with GPS and can be tracked on iPhones, iPods or laptop computers. Bus arrival times are every 20-30 minutes and will run Monday-Friday 7AM - 5:30 PM. Below is a link to the transit visualization software page.


Chris Shivers Gerry Lane Invitational @ River Center
The Chris Shivers Gerry Lane Invitational (CSGLI) is a sanctioned Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event and is part of the prestigious Copenhagen Challenger Tour that features the world's best riders going head-to-head against the world's toughest bulls. Chris Shivers, a legend in his own time, is a Louisiana native from Jonesville. Events run August 28-29, (8PM Nightly).

Fête Rouge- A Louisiana Celebration of Food and Wine
The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society (BRES) will host a 3-day festival event in Downtown Baton Rouge at the Sheraton Hotel August 27-29 called 'Fête Rouge~A Louisiana Celebration of Food and Wine'. The event kicks off this Thursday at 6:30PM. Visit the website below for a complete schedule.

Chris Leblanc @ Boudeaux & Thibodeauxs

Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure @ LASM
National Geographic's new giant-screen film "Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure," brings to life the extraordinary marine reptiles of the dinosaur age on the planetarium's 60 foot dome screen. From the giraffe-necked Styxosaurus and 20-foot "bulldog" fish Xiphactinus to the T-Rex of the ocean - the 40-foot super-predator Tylosaurus - these wondrous beasts defy imagination. The film takes audiences on a remarkable journey into the relatively unexplored world of the "other dinosaurs," those reptiles that lived beneath the water. The film runs Tuesday - Saturday, 11AM, 1PM, & 3PM & Sunday, 1PM, 3 PM.


UFC 102 Party @ Puncher's
UFC 102: Couture vs. Nogueira is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on August 29, 2009 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. It will feature former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion, Randy Couture, facing off against former PRIDE Heavyweight and UFC Interim Heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Catch the event via pay-per-view on big screen TV at Puncher's Saturday, August 29 at 9PM.

Red Stick Farmer's Market
Fresh from the Market cooking show at 10 AM inside Main Street Market. The innovative young chefs will feature local ingredients from Red Stick Farmers in a head to head cook off. Each student will create samples for the crowd to judge. Special "Seasonal Cook off" awards will be presented to student chefs Cody Carroll and Jeremy Barlow. The Bluegrass Jam returns at 11:30 this Saturday in the North Street seating area for music lovers and musicians who would like to take part in the jam session. Fifth and Main.


Designer of Shaw Center Fountains and Riverfront Master Plan Joins LSU
Glenn Allen, an internationally renowned landscape architect and alumnus of the Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture graduate program has been selected to the Marie H. Bickham Endowed Chair for the 2009-2010 academic year. Allen's portfolio includes the plaza and fountains at the Shaw Center for the Arts and Lafayette Park as well as the Baton Rouge Riverfront Master Plan which were designed by Hargreaves Associates under Allen's direction. Dean David Cronrath of the College of Art & Design feels that "Allen will help to ensure that the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture maintains it's stature as one of the very best programs in the country." The DDD welcomes Glen Allen back to Baton Rouge,
