The Downtown Maintenance Committee has recognized the seventh downtown business with outstanding exterior maintenance and beautification. The First Presbyterian Church, located at 763 North Boulevard, was awarded the September Downtown Distinction Award for their outstanding efforts in the Church/Non-Profit category.
The First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge, LA was organized in 1827 and was the first Protestant church in Baton Rouge. In 1927, it was located on its present site on the corner of North Boulevard and 7th Street. The well-cared for terrace garden was part of the 2010-2011 renovation project and was designed by Joseph Furr Design Studios.
As a reminder, each month a downtown business or organization will be selected from a different category to highlight the variety of businesses and organizations contributing to downtown's quality of place and community pride. At the end of twelve months, citizens will vote on which of the previous award winners deserve the 'People's Choice' Award!
Congratulations to First Presbyterian Church!! Stay tuned for October's Downtown Distinction award winner in the Residential Development category.
