The Downtown Maintenance Committee has recognized the eighth downtown business with outstanding exterior maintenance and beautification. The Dupree Apartments, located at 601 Spanish Town Road, were awarded the October Downtown Distinction Award for their outstanding efforts in the Residential Development category.
Business partners Ben Stalter and Robert Lay own and manage the Dupree Apartments. The apartments were completed in 2015 following the renovation of one building and the demolition and reconstruction of another; both exhibiting the 1920s-era architectural style of the original historic builidings.
Nestled quietly under the tree lined canopy of Spanish Town Road in Baton Rouge's historic Spanish Town neighborhood and in the shadow of Louisiana's State Capitol Building, the Dupree Apartments are designed to maintain and preserve the original circa 1920s architecture. Each unit meets the perfect balance of historical charm along with today's modern amenities including spacious open floorplans, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and picturesque views of Spanish Town and the state capitol.
As a reminder, each month a downtown business or organization will be selected from a different category to highlight the variety of businesses and organizations contributing to downtown's quality of place and community pride. At the end of twelve months, citizens will vote on which of the previous award winners deserve the 'People's Choice' Award!
Congratulations to Dupree Apartments!! Stay tuned for November's Downtown Distinction award winner in the Bar/Lounges category.
