Fleur Du Jour Grand Opening
The DDD welcomes a new downtown business! The Grand Opening of Fleur Du Jour is this Thursday! Celebrate and enjoy a showcase of their unique holiday designs and meet their favorite event vendors! Cocktails and Hors d'oeuvres provided by Leger's Catering, Couture Cakes will showcase a holiday themed cake, and a chocolate fountain provided by Addicted to Chocolate. Be first to see Fleur Du Jour's the unveiling of the 2009 holiday decor!!!

The Foundation for Historical Louisiana's Gala - Louisiana's French Connection
The FHL Annual Preservation Gala will be held on October 29th at 7PM at the Old Governor's Mansion. This year's theme will be "Louisiana's French Connection". The funds raised support advocacy work of the Foundation for Historical Louisiana. Click link below for application and ticket purchase info.

International Cooking Competition
The Baton Rouge Center for World Affairs will present an evening of international cuisine at the Louisiana State Museum with their International Cooking Competition. Chefs of international cuisine will compete, and guests will taste the fruits of their labor, as well as the fruit of the vine from dozens of countries. Nightmare on Third Street
Enter to win a $100 costume contest at the Roux House Thursday, October 29th. Enjoy $3 Rouxdrivers, slices at Schlittz, and Guiness 250 pints at Happy's.

Halloween @ Boudreaux and Thibodeaux's
Halloween starts at Bou' n Tibs' Thursday with Furr (rock) at 10PM followed by a costume contest with prizes. Friday will host another costume contest at midnight and music by The Anteeks and Ron Jeremy Trio.

The 13th Gate Haunted House
The 13th Gate is the ultimate haunted house! Journey through 13 very frightening themed indoor and (weather-permitting) outdoor areas where your worst nightmares come true and anything can happen. The 13th Gate has consistently been viewed as one of the top Haunted Attractions in the country by Haunted Attraction Industry leaders such as (which listed The 13th Gate as the #1 Haunted Attraction in the country for 2008). Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights through November 13th. November 6, 7 and 13 are Flashlight Nights.

LSU vs. Tulane Gameday Shuttles
TheThe Hilton will begin selling LSU shuttle tickets ($18) for the Tulane game at 10AM Thursday morning. The Sheraton will start selling tickets ($18) from their front desk at 9AM Friday morning. Both the Hilton and Sheraton shuttles will depart at 3:30PM and 5PM. Pastime will also be offering their usual shuttle service. Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis and sales start at noon Saturday. The price for a round trip ticket is $12.00.

Get your tickets early because they are selling fast! Enjoy the ease and convenience by avoiding the traffic hassles!

CURIOUS GEORGE LIVE! is the new can't miss live stage musical that will delight your whole family! Live on stage in his World Premiere musical tour, Curious George swings and flips his way through a fun-filled story that takes the audience from home to Rome. Freaks @ Manship Theatre
Tod Browning, who directed Bela Lugosi in the original Dracula, stepped into even eerier territory with this 1932 story of betrayal and retribution in the circus. Evil trapeze artist Olga Baclanova seduces and marries a midget in the circus sideshow, hoping to inherit his wealth. But in doing so, she has crossed the wrong folks: the tightly knit group of nature's aberrations, who stick together like family--and who set out to avenge their little pal.

Novelist Dava Sobel Talks About Galileo at LASM
Award-winning novelist Dava Sobel will speak on her best-selling publication Galileo's Daughter, which revisits the life of the great Italian scientist through the eyes of his eldest daughter, a cloistered nun. Their loving relationship, traced through this correspondence, overturns the myth of Galileo as an enemy of the Catholic Church.

Galileo's Daughter won the 1999 Los Angeles Times book prize for science and technology, a 2000 Christopher Award, and was a finalist for the 2000 Pulitzer Prize in biography. This event is free and open to the public.

Sunday in the Park
Sunday in the Park is a series of free outdoor concerts in Lafayette Park at the Shaw Center for the Arts from 12 noon - 3 p.m. This Sunday, The Arts Council and 225 Magazine will present The Dirty Dozen Brass Band as part of the fall line-up for Sunday in the Park. Come and enjoy brunch and music under the oaks!

Downtown Wine Walk
Registration will be in the Manship / Shaw Center breezeway between Stroube's and The Roux House patio at 5:30PM. Cost for the event is $10 and allows for two free two ounce wine tastings per participating venue. Featured wines will be $4 per glass at each establishment. Main Street Market
Start the Halloween holiday early at the Red Stick Farmers Market Saturday from 8-12. Liz Lopes will be painting festive faces to celebrate Halloween, so be sure to bring the kids. Enjoy the smooth sounds of Kevin Johnson outdoors and the Lagniappe Dulcimers inside Main Street Market. Stick around for the Fresh from the Market cooking show at 10 am inside the North Street entrance to Main Street Market. And don't forget to stop by the coffee booth for special pumpkin recipes.
