The Downtown Maintenance Committee has recognized the tenth downtown business with outstanding exterior maintenance and beautification. The Old Governor's Mansion, located at 502 North Boulevard, was awarded the December Downtown Distinction Award for their outstanding efforts in the Tourist Destination category.

Today, the Old Governor's Mansion serves as a historic house museum remembering the lives of the nine governors who lived here, as well as the headquarters for Preserve Louisiana and a venue for special events. It is maintained by the State of Louisiana Division of Administration, Office of State Buildings.

Preserve Louisiana (formerly the Foundation for Historical Louisiana) was founded in November of 1963 with the purpose of promoting local interest in the heritage of Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana. Preserve Louisiana uses today's resources to preserve the treasures of yesterday and improve the quality of tomorrow. As a reminder, each month a downtown business or organization will be selected from a different category to highlight the variety of businesses and organizations contributing to downtown's quality of place and community pride. At the end of twelve months, citizens will vote on which of the previous award winners deserve the 'People's Choice' Award!
