Veterans Day Downtown
On Wednesday, November 11 @ 11:00AM, the USS Kidd will hold their Veteran's Day Ceremony. Join them in honoring the men and women of the Armed Forces. The event will be held at the Old State Capitol, 100 North Blvd., For information call 342-1942 or visit

Also, on Wednesday @ 12:00PM, The Odell S. Williams Now and Then Museum of African American History presents its Seventh Annual Veteran's Day Celebration located at 538 South Blvd. Call 343-4431 for more information.

The DDD would like to welcome Fleur du Jour to Downtown @ 640 Main St., Suite 105. This convenient location is in the heart of our capital city and the exclusive florist for the downtown area. Professional licensed florist specialize in holiday decorating and weddings but can handle everyday or once in a lifetime events: birthdays, new babies, just because, showers, graduations, rehearsal dinners and more.

Main Street Market
Red Stick Farmers Market continues its Harvest Celebration with St. James Day at the Market. Volunteers from St. James Episcopal Church will offer coffee and pumpkin recipes for shoppers at the Market. Captain Murvin Gaspard of Cut Off, Louisiana will prepare a Louisiana Shrimp and Citrus dish featuring local Louisiana white Gulf fish and Plaquemines Parish Louisiana citrus.

Musician Kevin Johnson will perform during the Saturday morning Market. The Market's Bluegrass Jam invites all fun-loving musicians to join them in a Harvest Jam session featuring songs about food.

LSU Tigerama Concert @ River Center

The funds raised during the Tigerama concert will be dedicated to the construction of the new Tiger Band Hall project, while also supporting current operating needs of the Band. The Listening Room will present Baton Rouge Celebrates Ahmad Jamal, an NEA Jazz Masters Live event on Friday, November 13 at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the "Lyceum." The line up includes the LSU Jazz Quintet, the Southern University Ensemble, The Jacob Dupre Trio, the Thelonius Monk Institute/NOCCA Jazz Quintet, Mike Esneault and Ed Anderson.

Cam Pyle @ Roux House
Soulhaven started in late 2007 as a split off from the Cam Pyle Band in Baton Rouge, La. The band maintains the fun, party atmosphere, and has supplemented the set list with a more soulful side also. A fantastic rhythm section, electric and acoustic guitars, and guitar synthesizer make up the framework of the band. Sometimes Soulhaven brings in horn players like Duane Huff and percussion players like Mike Tramonte to further layer the sound. A unique twist in all the Soulhaven material reminds people why they leave the house to hear live music!!!

Downtown Wine Walk
Registration will be in the Manship / Shaw Center breezeway between Stroube's and The Roux House patio at 5:30PM. Cost for the event is $10 and allows for two free two ounce wine tastings per participating venue. Featured wines will be $4 per glass at each establishment.
