Spanishtown Parade
The 30th Annual Parade begins Saturday, February 13 at 12 noon on State Capitol Drive. Spanish Town rolls out with a fleet of 70 floats. Dancing to the marching bands, hands poised for catching goodies, eclectic attire is the order of the day. Come early and bring your lawn chairs. 2010 Dignataries include King Mr. Tom Sylvest, Queen Ms. Liz Walker & the Grand Marshal Mr. Nick Spitzer.

NOTE** The Alcohol Free Zone is designated from the north side of Convention Street between 5th and 7th Streets.

Krewe of Poseidon
Downtown's newest parade will roll February 13 at 4PM after Spanishtown. Parade Grand Marshalls include Randy Jackson from the rock band Zebra, local artist Chris LeBlanc, marching bands, dance troops, and a Poseidon Best Band Contest. Parade highlights include the newest night-time parade with illuminated floats all pulled with traditional tractors NOLA Style. Parade features our mascot "Neptune" and his following of walking fish.

Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra- For the Love of Mozart/ Masterworks IV
Join the orchestra for an evening that is sure to rejuvenate the soul. This program features works by one of the great classical masters, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Thursday, February 11 at 7:30PM they feature not only the musical genius of this great composer, but they welcome a new rising musical star with 2008 New Orleans International Piano Competition Gold Medalist, Spencer Myer.

Early Hours this Saturday at the Market
Red Stick Farmers Market will run this Saturday from 7:30-10:30AM and the Main Street Market from 8AM-11:45AM. Stop in for a hot breakfast before the parade. Impress your Valentine with a locally made gift this year! Guest vendors will be at Main Street Market during lunch Wednesday through Friday with artisan chocolates, flowers, honey and other gift items. Food vendors will feature a "heart healthy" menu item. Stop by the BREADA booth during lunch to sign up to win special Valentine's Day prizes from your favorite vendors!

Valentine's Comedy Explosion
Three of the urban comedy scene's most high-profile comedians entertain with routines as seen on Def Comedy Jam, Comic View, "Last Comic Standing" and BET and HBO specials. Arnez J, Earthquake, and Lavell Crawford will perform on Sunday, February 12, 8PM at The Baton Rouge River Center for Valentine's Comedy Explosion.

Hong Kong Youth Orchestra
Founded in 1990 the Hong Kong Juvenile and Youth Chinese Classical Orchestra aims at developing Chinese culture, promoting Chinese musical activities and nurturing a new generation of Chinese musicians. Members of the Orchestra are mainly young Chinese music lovers, a majority of whom have received rigorous musical training since primary school. This has given them a solid foundation, a high standard of virtuosity and rich performance experience. Come celebrate the Year of the Tiger Sunday, February 14 @ 3PM at Manship Theatre.

Lincoln the Politician
Join the 52nd Governor of Louisiana Charles "Buddy" Roemer, III at the Old Governor's Mansion on Thursday, February 11th at 6PM for a presentation called Lincoln- The Politician in partnership with the Louisiana Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. The event is free for members, $10 for guest, and $5 for students.

Short Play with Louisiana Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission
The FHL invites you to an event on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 12:00PM at the Louisiana State Library where David Madden, Chair of the Louisiana Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, will perform "The Sultana Sinks as Lincoln's Funeral Train Crosses America," his new one-man short play, in which he speaks as twelve of the 500 survivors of the sinking of the Sultana in the Mississippi and narrates the simultaneous movement of Lincoln's funeral train from Washington to Springfield, Illinois. That night, 1,400 Union soldiers perished, the worst maritime disaster in American history. Held in the Seminar Center of the State Library, this 45-minute program is free and open to the public. Given that this is a lunchtime event, attendees are welcomed to brown bag their lunch
