11th Annual Mardi Gras Mambo 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run / Walk
Now in its 12th year, the Amedisys Mardi Gras Mambo 10k and One Mile Fun Run will take place on February 20th, 2010. The One Mile Fun Run starts at 8:30am and the 10k starts at 9:00am. In 2009, over 1,000 runners participated in the Mambo! The fast and flat 10k course will give every participant an interesting and exciting tour of scenic downtown Baton Rouge and the campus of Louisiana State University. Gumbo 2010 at St. James
Gumbo 2010 will begin on Friday, February 19th. Mark your calendars so you don't miss out on any of St. James Gumbo Fridays during Lent. Feb. 19, 26, March 5, 12, 19, and 26 you can dine-in, take-out, and purchase extra for your freezer. Take out orders are placed on Friday mornings from 8:00 am until 10:00 am by calling 225-387-5141. Their convenient drive up line will keep things moving for those on the go. Dine-in from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Bishops Hall. Red Stick Farmer's Market
This Saturday the Fresh from the Market cooking show will feature Chef Celeste Gill and Red Stick Farmer Blake Ryals in the weekly cooking show Fresh from the Market at 10 AM in the North Street seating area inside Main Street Market. Chef Celeste will feature goat cheese and ground lamb from the Ryals Goat Dairy Farm in easy to cook everyday recipes. Ground lamb combines well with several of the farm ingredients growing in late winter. Doyle Hanson will also be at the Market on Saturday and available to sharpen your garden and cutlery tools.
