Memorial service arrangements made for Brace B. Godfrey, Jr.
Godfrey remembered as 'extraordinary individual' and leaves a legacy of downtown deployment and civic involvement

Brace B. Godfrey Jr.'s family has finalized service arrangements for his interment. Visitation hours will be from 9:00 am to 12 noon on Friday, March 19 at Baton Rouge's Shiloh Baptist Church located at 185 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive.

Religious services will begin at 12 noon the same day at Shiloh Baptist Church. Burial will be in Green Oaks Memorial Park at 9595 Florida Blvd in Baton Rouge.

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Brace B. Godfrey, Jr. Memorial Fund through any Region Bank branch referencing account # 92-507425.

Godfrey, a principal of Cyntreniks, was a member of the DDD Commission from 2000 to 2006 and served as board chairman for two terms. Godfrey and Cyntreniks purchased and redeveloped several important projects downtown including the Kress @ Third and Main and the Hotel King which is currently being converted into the Hotel Indigo.

Godfrey, 58, was also an activist, serving as a founding member of 100 Black Men of Baton Rouge and led a campaign against gun violence in our local community.

"He was an extraordinary individual who gave of himself in a multitude of ways to the community. I learned so much from him and he will be sorely missed." commented Davis Rhorer, executive director of the Downtown Development District. Godfrey is saluted for his willingness to take on difficult projects. He has undoubtedly left his mark along the landscape and will be remembered for his hard work and dedication.
