Have plans for this spring? Downtown sure does!

Live After Five and Sunday in the Park free concerts are starting this weekend and the weather is warming; what a time of year for Downtown!

What better way to enjoy your spring than spending time Downtown? The next few months are packed with activities and events and as always, Downtown's many restaurants, bars, and art galleries have spread their welcoming arms to you and your families. Come be a part of a growing tradition!

The months of April and May bring the Louisiana Earth Day celebration, Baton Rouge's Blues Week, Fest For All, Providence Corporate Cup 5K, and of course, Live After Five, and Sunday in the Park.

Happy's Running Club 2nd Annual Downtown Spectacular 5,000 Meter Road Race will be this weekend and is shaping up to be even bigger and more successful than last year.

The 13th Annual International Heritage Celebration is also this weekend at the River Center where entertainment, exhibits, food and visitors from around the globe will take center stage. Over 40 booths representing over 40 countries will provide a rich insight into the multi-cultural makeup of Baton Rouge.

There is something great around every corner, not to forget the Red Stick Farmer's Market where you can get all your spring vegetables and the Baton Rouge Arts Market that now offers over 75 artists from all over the South.

In addition to the many festivals and concerts, Downtown's art galleries are filled with impressive works by local, regional, and national artist.

From local artist Elise Toups' exhibit titled Make Believe at the Arts Council's Community Gallery as part of Culture Candy's Looking at Art, to the George Ohr Exhibit at the LSU Museum of Art, to the many student exhibitions featured at Glassell Gallery throughout the months of April and May, there is more art than you can shake a 'red stick' at!

The Arts and Entertainment District nightlife has also been buzzing lately with the additions of The Office and Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar and Restaurant. Third Street's crowds have been larger and livelier than ever as Downtown continues to establish itself as the City's premiere nightlife destination.

We invite you to come Downtown Friday and enjoy the opening concert of Live After Five with MoJeaux. CATS will be running shuttles 4PM - 10PM from select locations on two routes. Click for more details on CATS shuttle.

Be sure to make time before the concert to stop by an art gallery or get a bite to eat. Downtown's bars and restaurants are open after the concert and have great specials and entertainment acts in store. Come enjoy the unique atmosphere and culture that only Downtown has to offer. We hope to see you!
