Christine E. Nichols "Chris", a former Downtown Development District Commissioner and strong advocate for downtown, passed away February 21, 2023 surrounded by family and friends. She was fearless in her advocacy for downtown, as well as dedicated to developing and providing quality services for those living with mental illness. She broke barriers as a female executive and in 2000, she moved her corporate office to Downtown Baton Rouge and remained active in the revitalization of downtown and to the Downtown Development District.

"As a true and loyal advocate, Chris's dedication to downtown and our office will have a continued impact on our success. We are truly grateful for all of her service and will miss her immensely."

Please join us in North Boulevard Town Square for her memorial service this Saturday, March 25 at 11am. Following the memorial service a Second line, to celebrate Chris's life, will begin at the square and end at her office, the "Nichols Building" 728 North Blvd, where refreshments will be served. Casual attire is recommended. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Options Foundation.
