River Center East & West Parking Garages open Friday for LAF
In response to the largest turnout ever for Live after Five last week, the River Center East & West Parking Garages (St. Louis and Government Streets) will be open for public use this Friday to accomodate concert goers. As always, the Third Street Garage will also be open for parking. We encourage you to arrive early to get a good spot and visit our Interactive Map for additional parking information.

Baton Rouge Blues Festival
The Baton Rouge Blues Festival is this Saturday, April 24, Noon - 10PM in Repentance Park with Chris Thomas King, Tony Joe White, Ruthie Foster, Sonny Landreth, Janiva Magness, Tyree Neal, Susan Owens, and Elvin Killerbee. The "Music in Schools" program will be in Galvez Plaza with the Central High School Blues Band from 1:15PM - 2PM and the Dunham School Jazz Ensemble from 2:30PM - 3:15PM. Live after Five
The spring season of Live after Five continues this Friday April 23, 5PM - 8PM with the Baton Rouge Blues Week All Star Jam featuring Henry Gray, John Lisi, Kenny Acosta, Chicago Al & Troy Turner. Come out to Galvez Plaza at North Boulevard Town Square for the State's premiere free outdoor concert series. Start spending your Friday evenings Downtown!

Sunday in the Park
The Arts Council and 225 Magazine will again present a variety of top-notch musical entertainment as part of the spring line-up for Sunday in the Park. Catch Eden Brent in Lafayette Park at the Shaw Center for the Arts from 12 noon - 3PM this Sunday!

Make Believe at the Arts Council's Community Gallery
The public is invited to a reception on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 6:00-9:00PM at The Arts Council's Community Gallery located on the second floor at 427 Laurel Street. Everyone is encouraged to pull their favorite items out of the costume box to wear to the reception for Make Believe: recent works by Elise Toups. Make-Believe is a series of paintings consisting of costumed people that the artist has interacted with and photographed over the past few years. The colors are enhanced to give you a high energy festival feeling. Work from Elises' students will also be exhibited and will run from April 7 - June 14.

LASM After Hours with Collector Alan Rothschild
Owner of the largest collection of patent models in the world, Alan Rothschild will discuss his collecting passion and the curious history of the patent process while guiding visitors through the exhibition The Curious World of Patent Models on Thursday, April 22, 5:30PM - 7:30PM. Enjoy complimentary refreshments with admission: Members free, nonmembers $5.

Also, for Astronomy Day- Saturday, April 24, 1PM - 4PM LASM will host a series of family-friendly activities designed to educate children and adults about astronomy and space. Regular admission rates apply. For more information, go to LASM's site below.

Springtime at the Market
It's beginning to look like Spring at the Markets! Red Stick Farmers are bringing new vegetables to the Markets each week. Fresh new items this weekend will include asparagus, artichokes, fava beans, English peas, yellow squash, spinach, shallots, strawberries, live soft shell crabs and much more! There is also a great selection of fresh-cut Spring flowers including sweet peas, delphiniums, lilies, and irises. The Fresh from the Market cooking show will feature Richard Singleton of Feliciana Greenhouses using his homemade salad dressings and also local goat cheeses in his stuffed pork recipe. The show starts at 10 AM in the North Street seating area of Main Street Market.
