Sound of Summer Concert Series
The Sounds of Summer concert series is part of a parish-wide celebration of the 200th anniversary of the creation of East Baton Rouge Parish. Residents have expressed their appreciation for events such as Sunday in The Park and Live After Five, and now have the opportunity to extend the live music experience into the summer. Friday concerts are from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Galvez Plaza. The season kicks off this Friday with Lil' Malcolm and the House Rockers (Rollicking Zydeco Accordion) followed by Bonerama on June 11, Mia Borders on June 18 and Big Sam's Funky Nation on June 25. A full schedule of dates through July coming soon.

Discover Baton Rouge Days
In addition to the Sounds of Summer concerts, the Bicentennial celebration will include two Discover Baton Rouge Days (Sunday, June 6th and Saturday, July 10th) with free admission to a variety of downtown museums and attractions, free music concerts in Lafayette Park from 12PM - 3PM and a free screening of the adorable family film, Babe, at 3:00 p.m. in the Manship Theatre.

The Circus is in Town
World famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will be at the River Center June 3-6. Don't miss the All Access Pre-Show! Starts one-hour prior to showtime available to all ticket-holders. See animals up close, visit with performers, get autographs, try on costumes, and enjoy the circus fun.

Dairy Day at the Market
Fresh Fresh Fest continues with Dairy Day and a host of fun activities for the whole family! Starting at 9 AM, Mayor Kip Holden will lead a festive parade through the Market for the launch of One Book, One Community! The parade ends inside the North Street entrance to Main Street Market with Mayor Holden reading selections from this year's book, In the Sanctuary of Outcasts by Neil White. Following the book reading, the Fresh from the Market cooking show will feature Galatoire's Bistro Chef Jeff Conaway creating recipes to highlight dairy products and seasonal produce found at the Market. New items are appearing at the Market every Saturday including sweet corn, peaches, blueberries, plums, eggplant, garlic and much more! Other first Saturday activities will include face painting by Liz Lopes, gardening advice from the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners and the addition of the Baton Rouge Arts Market alongside the Farmers Market. This is one Saturday you don't want to miss!

LASM after Hours
Give in to your sense of wonder for a delightful triple treat. First, tour Almost Alice: New Illustrations of Wonderland with LASM curator Elizabeth Weinstein. Next, meet artists Sally Heller and Károon Davajian and view their installation in the Soupçon Gallery. And finally, see a selection of charming miniature furniture from LASM's permanent collection. Enjoy complimentary refreshments with admission: members free, nonmembers $7.

Arts Market this Saturday
Start the summer season with the delights of original artwork nestled in with the plentiful fruits and harvests of the summer crops. The Baton Rouge Arts Market showcases original, hand-made works every first Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at 5th and Main Streets in Downtown Baton Rouge. Start the Saturday with over 70 artists from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Florida who will present original works of art in a variety of mediums including, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, textiles, photographs, glass, paintings, sculpture, hand-made soaps and so much more.
