Playmakers presents: Sleeping Beauty at Manship Theatre
Sleeping Beauty is written by Charles Way with music by Chad Henry. This musical retelling keeps the fairy tale appeal but tells it with a modern touch of humor and style. In the classic battle between good and evil, a terrible curse is put on a young princess, who falls into a hundred-year sleep on her sixteenth birthday. The only one left awake is a prince who must conquer the forces of evil and restore happiness to the kingdom with true love's kiss. Sleeping Beauty is recommended for ages four and older.

Manship Theatre

Dimestore Troubadours at Red Star
From 225: Dimestore Troubadours: Barring all constraints of space, time and shear reason, if Jean Renoir had directed a proto version of Swingers set in the depressed Los Angeles of 1935, and it starred Vincent Gallo rather than Vince Vaughn and ended not in a sunny day coffee shop but in a filthy midnight alleyway where the only shining object was the blade of a knife, no doubt the soundtrack would have been eerily similar to this six-song set from the Dimestore Troubadours. Catch the Dimestore Troubadours at the Red Star on Friday, June 25 with The Sinners.

Happy's Courtyard Concerts
"Vagabond Swing lies within the creative blending of classic sounds and modern concepts, blending acoustic musical tastes from the past and present." Along with the music's fusion of modern and classic genres, the band members themselves bring on a show of high-energy, youthful spunk, which gives the live performance an almost-surprising air of excitement. See them Friday night at Happy's.
