The Downtown Arts and Entertainment District gains 'State Cultural District' designation!

The DDD is happy to announce that the Downtown Arts & Entertainment District has been selected by the state as a cultural district. The designation makes original works of art sold within the district exempt from state and city sales taxes, and offers tax breaks for historic building renovations. The incentives will help with downtown's goal of becoming more focused on arts and culture.

The Arts & Entertainment District, created last year, was one of 10 Louisiana "cultural districts" named by the state Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. The boundaries are from the north border of the River Center, Main Street, the crest of the levee, and the center line of Fourth Street. The benefits will go into effect March 1.
