Sound of Summer Concert Series
The Sounds of Summer concert series is part of a parish-wide celebration of the 200th anniversary of the creation of East Baton Rouge Parish. Friday concerts are from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Galvez Plaza. This week is Eric Lindell on July 9.

Also this Saturday from 12-3PM, Discover BR Days in Lafayette Park with 484 South (Southern Rock.) Discover Baton Rouge Days offer free admission to participating downtown museums, many activities at the Manship Theatre, and a free music concert.

Summer Ice Skating and Discover Downtown Adventure Special
Looking for a cool activity to share with the whole family? Beat the heat this summer with Summer Ice Skating on the River. SMG is pleased to announce Summer Ice Skating on the River through July 18th. Summer Ice Skating is part of a parish wide celebration of the Bicentennial of East Baton Rouge Parish. In addition, a Discover Downtown Adventure Special is available and includes skating and admission vouchers to USS KIDD and LASM for one low price of $18. Tickets are available through the River Center.

Kid's Saturday at LASM
On Saturday, July 10, Kids 12 and under are admitted free to all the museum's galleries: the hands-on children's galleries; the Ancient Egypt Gallery with its 2,300-year-old mummy; and the planetarium's Solar System and Universe Galleries. Also this month, children can read an assortment of Alice in Wonderland books in the Rabbit Hole Reading Nook, and wear fancy capes, available at the exhibition entrance, while touring the Almost Alice exhibition in the art galleries. On KIDS' Saturday, regular admission is charged for adults and children over 12. Note: Children may not attend LASM without an adult. Free admission does not include planetarium shows. KIDS' Saturday is sponsored by Target.

Second Saturday at LSU MOA
On Saturday, July 10, 10AM-2PM prepare to be 'puzzled' as part of FREE Second Saturdays at the LSU Museum of Art. Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult who is prepared to provide assistance.

9th Annual Summer Invitational Art Exhibition
The 9th Annual Summer Invitational Art Exhibition at Glassell Gallery in the Shaw Center for the Arts features new works in all media inspired by the theme Space 2010. Join them for an opening reception on Saturday, July 10, 7-9PM. Meet the artist and vote for your favorite art work. Dress is casual. Email kkrolak@lsu.edu for more info.

Just Peachy
Fresh Fest continues this week as we celebrate a favorite summertime fruit-Louisiana peaches! Come early this Saturday and get a spot in Mr. Buddy's line and a bag of fresh-picked peaches from his farm in Waterproof, Louisiana. The Fresh from the Market cooking show will feature peach recipes as we welcome Chef Nathan Gresham from Galatoire's Bistro. The show starts at 10 AM in the North Street seating area of Main Street Market. After the show, stick around for the Bluegrass Jam at 11 AM. All musicians are invited to bring their guitar and join in the fun!

Downtown Sunset Yoga Class
As part of 2010 WVLA's "Losing in Louisiana" series. Yoga Bliss is holding a free community sunset yoga class on the terrace of the Shaw Center at Tsunami July 14 from 7-8:15PM. The activities, led by Kim Matsko, owner of yoga bliss, are open to the public. There will be a live DJ spinning yoga music. Salute the sun and enjoy the amazing experience.
