Live After Five this Friday!
The fall season of Live After Five continues this Friday October 8, 5PM - 8PM with the Lil Ray Neal Blues Band (blues). Come out to Galvez Plaza at North Boulevard Town Square for the State's premiere free outdoor concert series. Start spending your Friday evenings Downtown!

Sunday in the Park
On Sunday, October 10, 2010, Sunday in the Park will continue with Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band from noon until 3:00 p.m. at Lafayette Park at the Shaw Center for the Arts, this season of concerts will offer a diverse musical selection including Jazz, Blues, Funk, R&B and a special Italian Festa on November 14th. Come and enjoy amazing live music, wonderful food, face painting and balloon creations. A free bike valet will be provided by B.R.A.S.S. Face painting and balloon creations will be provided by The Party Artist.

Bombay Bellywood
The Bellydance Superstars mix the ancient art form with the atomic fun of Bollywood. Featuring more than a dozen dancers and a percussionist, the troupe's show has been hailed as the new Riverdance. Cairo meets Bombay in Baton Rouge at the Manship Theatre on Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12 at 7:30PM.

Ascending Abstraction
The Community Gallery presents Ascending Abstraction which will showcase new work from Anna Belenki, Matthew Bourgeois, Todd Hines, and Johnathan Mayers. Ascending Abstraction explores the climb into other worlds with silver point, Prisma colors, ceramics and paintings. The Exhibition will run from September 24 - October 20. There will be a reception on October 8th in the Community Gallery from 6-8pm. Exhibitions are on view at the Arts Council (427 Laurel Street) Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Fall has arrived at the Market
It is beginning to look and feel like Fall at the Red Stick Farmers Market! The cooler temperatures have awakened the fall harvest and Red Stick Farmers are bringing new crops each week. Pumpkins, gourds, tender fall greens, sweet potatoes, snap beans and sweet corn will be among the fresh finds this weekend. This Saturday's Fresh from the Market weekly cooking show will feature Kathy Mangham, owner of Gourmet Girls Catering. Mangham will join host Chef Celeste Gill for a creative and fun cooking demonstration using fresh fall market ingredients. The show begins at 10 AM in the North Street seating area of Main Street Market.

Second Saturday at LSU MOA and Kid's Saturday at LASM
I spy treasures and trinkets and all kinds of art at the LSU Museum of Art. If you can spy these details you must be so smart! Bring a "Take-and-Make" bag home to create your own artwork inspired by your museum visit. Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult who is prepared to provide assistance.
