DDD property tax proposition passes/ Awards
On Saturday, October 2nd, the downtown residents overwhelmingly voted to renew the property tax proposition which funds a large portion of the operations of the Downtown Development District. The proposition passed with a 77% favorable rating.
A special thanks to Mayor-President Melvin "Kip" Holden and the Metropolitan Council for their continued support and confidence in the Downtown Development District (DDD), as well as the DDD Commission and all of the property owners and residents that have stood by our vision for Downtown through the years. Our success is your success.
We are as fired up as ever to continue our mission of improving Downtown so as to benefit this entire community. Looking forward, we plan to continue our efforts to bring more residents and visitors Downtown, keeping Baton Rouge on the World's stage of progressive cities.
As we continue the implementation of Plan Baton Rouge II and the Riverfront Master Plan, we will work tirelessly to transform our Downtown by constructing quality greenspaces and exploring creative incentives for neighborhood and business development.
We look forward to initiatives such as North Boulevard Town Square, a new permanent event stage at Galvez Plaza, the re-design of Repentance Park, and the Downtown Greenway while continuing to cultivate partnerships that make downtown development possible.
Your ongoing support has enabled great progress through the years and we deeply thank you for your commitment to Downtown.
In addition, DDD projects, staff and commissioners have received numerous state, national and international awards in 2010.
