Downtown alive with activity over weekend
Large crowds attend Hollydays, Live after Five, and others

Downtown was alive this past weekend with a plethora of races, concerts, and more. Many came out to enjoy the good times in the beautiful fall weather.

Hollydays Baton Rouge's premier holiday market presented by The Junior League of Baton Rouge Inc. kicked off last Wednesday. With unique vendors, generous contributors and committed Junior League volunteers, this market extravaganza attracts thousands of enthusiastic shoppers each year.

The Hollydays Market has a positive impact of over $5 million to the greater Baton Rouge area and allows for the Junior League of Baton Rouge Inc. to conduct its mission based programs and community outreach. Thousands attended the 3 day event at the River Center.

In addition to the shopping event, The 1st Annual Hollydays Hustle was held on Thursday night. Starting and finishing at Galvez Plaza, this beautiful run through Downtown offered a 5K race, as well as a 1 mile Fun Run with 3 age group awards.

On Friday, Live After Five continued with Neighborhood Stars (party mix) who kept the feet stomping by playing all the crowd favorites.

The weather was just right for dancing and enjoying music at the concert and along Third Street in the Arts and Entertainment District. Over 4000+ attended the free outdoor concert at Galvez Plaza.

Many attendees awaited the start of the Stone Temple Pilots concert at the River Center that took place on the same night.

Donna Britt and her husband Mark Ballard joined host Chef Celeste Gill to demonstrate their favorite recipe for crème brulee Saturday at the Red Stick Farmer's Market while the Lagniappe Dulcimer Society performed inside.

Sunday in the Park continued with Tizer featuring Karen Briggs (Jazz) in Lafayette Park. Families came equipped with picnic baskets and smiles. The Party Artist was there offering face painting and balloon creations for the kids while the adults enjoyed the live music and great food. It was a wonderful time to be Downtown!

Also on Sunday, St. Joseph's held their Grand Day Celebration, honoring grandparents and grandchildren with complimentary food and children's activities including a spacewalk, caricature drawings, story telling, and balloon animal art.

The Greater Baton Rouge Crop Walk was also held Sunday. The walk along the beautiful State Capitol area was to benefit the local hungry and impoverished in the community and throughout the world.

Great times like these help remind us of the true vibrancy of Downtown Baton Rouge. We invite you all Downtown to experience the many great events and activities planned for the holiday season!
