The 2010 Festival of Lights Celebration will take place on Friday December 3rd from 4-9PM. This Downtown tradition is shaping up to be one of the best yet! With FREE ice skating, fireworks, the lighting of the tree and more, there is something for all ages. Hope to see you there!



'30 on the 30th'- Downtown Beautification Project
On Saturday October 30th at 9AM, 30 large flower pots will be placed on corners in the downtown area. Local garden clubs, downtown businesses, and others will meet at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center to be sent off to the various corners to plant the greenery and flowers in each pot. You are invited to come and join in the fun! We need your help to assemble the plantings, so please meet at the Hilton Capitol Center at 9AM. Since it is Halloween weekend, please feel free to wear a costume! We'll be by your location with treats while you volunteer!!!

Sunday in the Park
On Sunday, October 31, 2010, Sunday in the Park will continue with Josh Garrett and the Bottom Line (Blues & Funk) from noon until 3:00 p.m. at Lafayette Park at the Shaw Center for the Arts, this season of concerts will offer a diverse musical selection including Jazz, Blues, Funk, R&B and a special Italian Festa on November 14th. Come and enjoy amazing live music, wonderful food, face painting and balloon creations. A free bike valet will be provided by B.R.A.S.S. Face painting and balloon creations will be provided by The Party Artist.

Spooky and Seasonal
The Markets will celebrate Halloween on Saturday, October 30th with a variety of kid friendly activities. There will be a special "Trick or Treat" tent for the little ghosts and goblins from 9 AM to 11 AM outside at the Red Stick Farmers Market. The festivities will include face painting, games and art activities with special treats for the kids! Inside Main Street Market Chef Celeste Gill will host culinary trained local food enthusiast Seth Harvey for menu suggestions for seasonal, spooky Halloween entertaining the Louisiana way! The Fresh from the Market cooking show begins at 10 AM with treats for all ages.
