2010 Cortana Kiwanis Christmas Parade
The 2010 Cortana Kiwanis Christmas Parade will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 11th. A full lineup of 75 parade entries guarantees something for everyone. Come early for the Battle of the Bands at 4 p.m. The parade will start on River Road in front of the River Center, down River Road to Convention Street and then up Fourth Street to the State Capitol. Extra Holiday Arts Markets
Usually open the first Saturday of each month, the Baton Rouge Arts Market will be open two additional Saturdays in December (the 11th, & 18th)! Join them for two more opportunities to shop for holiday gifts in December from 8AM - 12PM at 5th at Main Street. The Arts Market is a place where quality craftsmanship is not a lost art!.

Artful Holiday Reception
The Arts Council's Community Gallery is excited to continue the tradition of the hand-made holiday and presents again The Artful Holiday exhibition and sale from November 19th until December 31st. The public is invited to attend the reception on December 10th from 6-8pm at the Arts Councils Community Gallery located at 427 Laurel Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70801. Recent works from artists Layla Messkoub (print maker), Mary Baugh (potter), Julie Cornelius (jeweler), Rose Landry (jeweler) and Babeth Schlegel (jeweler) will be exhibited during the festive holiday season.

Playmakers and Manship Theatre present: A Christmas Carol
This popular holiday classic is back, presented by Manship Theatre and Playmakers of Baton Rouge. This musical re-telling of Charles Dickens' "ghostly little book" about Scrooge and the three ghosts who visit him on Christmas Eve. Come and share in this tale of redemption. Matinees on Dec 11, 18 & 19 at 2:00 pm.

Also, The man with the golden voice, Aaron Neville - from down in New Orleans - opens the holiday season at the Manship Theatre on Sunday, December 12 at 7PM.

"Music at Mid-Day" Concerts
A FREE lunchtime concert beginning at noon each Wednesday will feature local musicians, student ensembles, professional musicians and a wide variety of music from Classical to Standards, Blues, Jazz and Americana. Downtown patrons interested in attending can bring their own lunch, or contact one of the participating downtown restaurants and order from the Music @ Mid-Day lunch menu. Restaurant partners include Capital City Grill, Stroubes Chophouse, Tsunami Sushi and the Hilton Kingfish.

End of the Republic
The LA State Museum invites you to join them this Friday, December 10, 2010 at 10AM, as they celebrate the Bicentennial of the United States annexation of Spanish West Florida.
