Skating on the River
Indoor ice-skating at the River Center starts on December 17 and runs through December 31. Packages available with group rates, meal deal packages, season passes, and Discover Downtown packages which include skating plus admission to the USS KIDD and LASM. Buy tickets.

Extra Holiday Arts Market
Usually open the first Saturday of each month, the Baton Rouge Arts Market will be open for one more extra Saturday in December on the 18th! Join them for one more opportunity to shop for holiday gifts in December from 8AM - 12PM at 5th at Main Street. The Arts Market is a place where quality craftsmanship is not a lost art!.

Final Saturday Market before the New Year
This Saturday marks the last downtown market before the Christmas holiday as the market will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25. Holiday gifts will be available for everyone on your list as the Arts Market returns for one last appearance before February. Smiley Anders will be signing copies of his recent book inside Main Street Market throughout the morning. Musical entertainment will include festive holiday tunes by the Lagniappe Dulcimer Society beginning at 8:30 AM. The Fresh from the Market cooking show will feature chefs Nathan Gresham and Jeff Conaway from the new restaurant Beausoleil. The cooking demonstration begins at 10 AM in the North Street seating area to Main Street Market.

Teddy Bear Tea
You and your teddy bear are invited to our Holiday Teddy Bear Tea! This elegant tea is for children ages 4 and up. Children will take a photo with Santa, enjoying holiday readings during story time, and take part in a real Tea Party. Tickets are $30 per child (must be accompanied by an adult). Playmakers and Manship Theatre present: A Christmas Carol

Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage
Join numerous Downtown congregations as they celebrate the birth of Jesus. The Downtown Christmas pilgrimage features special music and choral performances at each stop, to help pilgrims enter into this season of hope and anticipation. The pilgrimage will begin on Sunday, December 19 at 6:00 PM, at Mount Zion First Baptist Church.

"Music at Mid-Day" Concerts
A FREE lunchtime concert beginning at noon each Wednesday will feature local musicians, student ensembles, professional musicians and a wide variety of music from Classical to Standards, Blues, Jazz and Americana. Downtown patrons interested in attending can bring their own lunch, or contact one of the participating downtown restaurants and order from the Music @ Mid-Day lunch menu. Restaurant partners include Capital City Grill, Stroubes Chophouse, Tsunami Sushi and the Hilton Kingfish.
