Cheri Ausberry named DDD Chairwoman
The new year brings DDD Commission position changes

The Downtown Development District is pleased to announce the new DDD Commission.

The DDD congratulates Cheri Morial Ausberry as its 2011 Chairwoman. Ausberry has been a member of the DDD Commission since 2005. The DDD is also very appreciative to Van R. Mayhall, Jr. for his service as Chairman for the last two years.

"We welcome Cheri to her new role as the DDD Chairwoman. Cheri comes from a family noted for its public service. Her father was the legendary Ernest Nathan Morial (known as Dutch), former Mayor of New Orleans, and her brother Marc Morial also served as Mayor of New Orleans. Cheri has a wealth of experience in redevelopment and we look forward to working with her on a number of upcoming Downtown projects" commented DDD Executive Director Davis Rhorer.

Ausberry is the CRA Business and Development officer and Vice President for the South Central Region of Louisiana for Capital One Bank which includes the Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles and the surrounding region and parishes. Her responsibilities include identifying, developing, and implementing community development programs in the assigned markets. She enjoys and takes pride in helping others to help themselves achieve self sufficiency and build assets through the creation, promotion and development of affordable housing programs, small business and workforce development initiatives, and financial literacy projects.

Helping to identify partnerships which will assist in achieving those goals, Ausberry's projects involve collaborating with federal, state, and local city agencies and government entities to create community development projects. She has also been able to collaborate with national partners and agencies to bring much needed development projects to the region including the Baton Rouge Small Business Loan Fund.

Ausberry has over ten years of experience in non-profit management and community development advocacy work. Other responsibilities have included managing the corporate giving and contributions budget of $500,000 for the South Central region of Louisiana for Capital One Bank. Ausberry began her career with legacy Hibernia Bank in community development in 2000.

Ausberry received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a major in Marketing from Xavier University of New Orleans and received her Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans through the Executive MBA program. She is married to Verge Ausberry, Senior Associate Athletics Director at LSU and is the mother of two young sons, Austin, 7 and Jaiden, 5.

Economic Consortium of the Gulf Coast - Advisory Member
She is a member of the Baton Rouge Chapter of Links, Inc. and the Junior League of Baton Rouge
