2011 Louisiana Earth Day
Louisiana Earth Day transforms the downtown Baton Rouge area into an informative and fun-filled experience along North Boulevard, Repentance Park, and the Old State Capitol grounds! Visitors find a wealth of information that addresses our quality of life in Louisiana. The very latest innovative developments on green, sustainable living, including stewardship of Earth's resources, alternative energy sources, home construction, coastal restoration, climate change, etc., will be presented through many different venues. Activities for all ages and live music all day!

"Bike to Work Day" April 15th
Plan to ride your bike to your downtown office to promote safety and a healthy mode of transportation! We also encourage all bikers outside of the downtown area to bring your bikes to work and enjoy an afternoon ride on our downtown levee bike path system.

Live After Five at AZ Young Park
Due to the construction of North Boulevard Town Square and the new permanent stage at Galvez Plaza, Live After Five will be held at the opposite end of Third Street at A.Z. Young Park (3rd Street & Spanish Town Road.) A FREE CATS SHUTTLE will loop through the Arts and Entertainment District to drop visitors near the concert site.

2011 Spring Season continues Friday from 5PM - 8PM with Roebucks Bradley Circus (roots blues, americana and rock-a-billy.)

Mentorship Academy Survey
The Mentorship Academy charter schools plan to open a store in the former Regions Bank building downtown. The schools' leader, Brian Dixon, says the "school-based enterprise," possibly a sidewalk café or a convenience store, could fill a need downtown and give students business experience. Officials are taking suggestions for the type of business at mentorshipstore.com.


Sunday in the Park
The 2011 Sunday in the Park free concert series promises to usher in Spring with Louisiana style. The season continues this Sunday with BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet from noon until 3PM at Lafayette Park across from the Shaw Center for the Arts. Come and enjoy amazing live music, wonderful food, face painting and balloon creations.

Through the Lens: Recent Works by the LA Photographic Society
The public is invited to a reception this Friday, April 8 from 6-8PM at the Arts Council's Community Gallery. Enjoy photographs by over 20 local photographers from the Louisiana Photographic Society.
