Celebrate the Fourth Downtown
Journey downtown to the Baton Rouge Riverfront and celebrate with us, our day of freedom on Monday, July 4th. The Annual Star-Spangled Celebration activities will kick off at 12 noon at the Riverfront Stage between the USS KIDD Veterans Memorial and Red Stick Plaza including "Fireworks on the Mississippi" sponsored by WBRZ and the Advocate.

Many other great activities are planned including BASF Freedom Mile and events at the Hilton, LSU MOA, and Manship Theater.

For more than 2 decades Grammy award winning artist Terrance Simien, 8th generation Louisiana Creole has been shattering the myths about what his indigenous Creole Zydeco music is and is not. Leading his Zydeco Experience Band, Simien has become one of the most respected and internationally recognized touring and recording artists in roots music today. Star Spangled Saturday
Come celebrate Star Spangled Saturday with fresh produce, live music and plenty of red, white and blue. Find delicious items for your BBQ including sweet corn, sausage, shrimp, watermelons, cantaloupes, honey dew melons and blueberries. Lori Melancon will demonstrate simple canning techniques for preserving RED tomatoes, WHITE squash and BLUEberries. The canning demonstration will begin at 10 AM in the North Street seating area of Main Street Market. Local musician John Gray will open the Market at 8AM with the Star Spangled Banner, so come kickoff your holiday weekend at the Red Stick Farmers Market! The Red Stick Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8AM-12PM at Fifth and Main Streets.

Kick off your 4th of July weekend festivities by shopping for one-of-a-kind gifts! The Baton Rouge Arts Market showcases original, hand-made works every first Saturday of the month from 8AM until 12PM at 5th and Main Streets in Downtown Baton Rouge. Hollywood on the Bayou
Learn more about Louisiana's entertaining film history as told by Ed and Susan Poole, film accessory researchers. Authors of 12 reference books, including the first on film posters, and operators of two major websites on film accessories, the Pooles have documented more than 1,170 films that have been made in or about our state since 1898. A book signing will follow the presentation.
