Beat the Heat With Ice Skating on the River / Discover Downtown
This summer's Discover Downtown package allows visitors to "cool off" as the River Center will be magically transformed into a huge ice skating rink.

Skating Ticket: Includes skate rental, 90 minute skating session, small drink and small candy $12

Discover Downtown: Includes skating session at the River Center, and admission to the USS Kidd Veteran's Museum and LASM* $20.00

Cut! Costume and the Cinema at LASM
The LASM is one of few venues across the country to feature CUT! Costume and the Cinema, a major touring exhibition of 43 exquisitely made movie costumes and accessories.
More than 30 stars, including Johnny Depp, Ralph Fiennes, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, and Vanessa Redgrave, wore the exhibited costumes in 25 period films, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes, The Duchess, The Phantom of the Opera, and Howard's End. The exhibit ends July 31 so vist the Louisiana Art & Science Museum soon before you miss your chance to see this unique exhibit.

8th Annual Art Melt & Preview Party
A multi- media, multi-sensory experience, guests will enjoy musical entertainment, live dance performances and much more! Multiple cash bars and a beer booth will also be available to attendees. Many vendors will be on hand with original wares for sale, and a variety of entertainment will be provided throughout the evening. Thursday, from 6:30PM - 10PM, there will be a Preview Party and awards ceremony recognizing the 2011 winners as well as honoring Rhea Gary, the 2011 Forum 35 Art Melt Louisiana Art Legend.

2011 Irish Film Festival
An exciting day of entertainment will include the showing of four highly acclaimed films about Ireland and the Irish people including Into the West, Boys and Girls from County Clare, An Everlasting Piece and a documentary entitled Literary Pub Crawl with Frank McCourt. Admission to the three main films is $8.50 each plus fees, while there is no charge for the documentary. Canteen Boy & The Moonlighters at Boudreaux & Thibodeaux's
Canteen Boy and the Moonlighters is an exciting party rock cover band hailing from Baton Rouge. The band was formed at the end of 2009 and is comprised of Taylor Clark, Kyle Celestin, Cody Reason, Colter Frideley, Josh Spahn, and Buck Langston. Since their beginning, the Moonlighters have set out to bring everyone's favorite classics to the stage while incorporating a younger sound to appeal to the newer generation of late nighters. Melon Mania
Shoppers can find yellow and red watermelons, cantaloupes, and honeydew melons at the Red Stick Farmers Market this weekend. Kids will enjoy a melon themed art activity at the Kids Korner inside Main Street Market. Join Nathan Gresham of Beausoleil Restaurant and Bar for the fresh from the market cooking demonstration featuring summer melon recipes. The cooking demonstration begins at 10AM in the North Street seating area of Main Street Market. The Red Stick Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8AM-12PM at Fifth and Main Streets.
