Happy's 206th 1st Annual Superfecta Downtown Spectacular 5K!
A 5k Race unlike any other in Baton Rouge...a great new downtown route, live music pre- and post- race, vintage race t's, and great post-race food highlighting the restaurants of downtown Baton Rouge. Race is Saturday, April 4, 2009 with music starting at 5pm, race at 6pm, and post-race music, food, and drinks 'till 2am.

Red Stick Farmer's Market
On the first Saturday of each month, the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners are at the Red Stick Farmers Market to offer expert advice on seasonal gardening and often provide free soil sample kits. The Fresh from the Market Cooking Show happens every Saturday inside Main Street Market. This cooking demonstration showcases local chefs and food lovers from around Louisiana. Also on the first Saturday of each month, except January and May, the Baton Rouge Arts Market sets up next to the Red Stick Farmers Market.

April Fence History Month at Louisiana's Old State Capitol
On Sunday, April 1, an exhibit on the history of the magnificent fence that surrounds the Old State Capitol will be on display. There will be photographs of the fence before, during and after the restoration project that began in May of 2007 along with architectural drawings and artifacts

The exhibit will be on display through Wednesday, April 29 during regular museum hours: Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free and the building is wheelchair accessible.
