Resolve to Eat Healthier in 2012
The Red Stick Farmers Market is the place to be this Saturday morning. Local farmers will bring fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, beets, lettuce, kale, spinach, strawberries and citrus. Learn to pair local citrus and pork together during the Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration by chef Fred Heurtin. The demonstration begins at 10AM in the North Street seating area of Main Street Market. The Red Stick Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8AM-12PM on the corner of Fifth and Main Streets.

Louisiana Marathon & Cypress 5K
Friends, family and curious spectators will line up along the 26.2 miles of roadways filled with inspiring sights and sounds to cheer on the many that chose to run. The Louisiana Marathon course features a fast, flat, runner-friendly path through the lakes, along the river, around downtown, on the university campus and in historic neighborhoods. The Cypress Challenge 5K starts at the State Capitol and ends at the Louisiana State Museum.

Eric J. Brown: Text & Context
An exhibition of the works of artist Eric J. Brown titled "Text & Context" is on display at the Shaw Center for the Arts and runs through January 23. Through brilliant abstract paintings, scrolls in vessels and two-dimensional sculptures, Brown explores a language by which all in existence relate.
