Louisiana Earth Day 2012
There is something for EVERYONE at Louisiana Earth Day 2012! This 2012 Earth Day Festival promises to be an exciting event as live music will be playing all day with ten bands playing on two stages. Come early for the children's activities and over 100 booths as displays will provide engaging, hands-on environmental activities! Bigger and better than ever, the festival will be located over several blocks in downtown Baton Rouge along North Boulevard from the Old State Capitol grounds to the Old Governor's Mansion! There is plenty of parking and a special gated lot for bicycles.

Live After Five presents music by STORMY
Live after Five in Downtown Baton Rouge is the capital city's premier FREE live music event, hosted by the Downtown Business Association at Galvez Plaza in the new North Boulevard Town Square. STORMY'S song list is about as versatile as the group's abilities, and includes dance music from the 40′s to the 90′s as well as top 40, country, rock, soul, funk, R&B, and big band. With a female vocalist, a solid rhythm section, and great horns, what more could you ask for?" Every band member sings, so you will not get tired of the same voice all night long.

Sunday in the Park
Sunday in the Park continues its FREE series with Soul Rebels Brass Band. The New Orleans natives picked up influences from outside the city as well as late-breaking local styles and began mapping them onto the marching band format they had learned in school. Soul Rebels' contagious originals and updated takes on standards keeps them rocking some of New Orleans' most beloved live music venues. Sponsored by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge & 225 Magazine, in collaboration with the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation.

McMains Children's 5k Run, Walk & Roll
This fundraising event is to benefit the programs and services offered at the McMains Children's Developmental Center. McMains CDC is a nonprofit organization, a Capital Area United Way Agency and a United Cerebral Palsy Affiliate. All pre-registered walkers and runners are guaranteed an event t-shirt. Food & drinks will be provided to registered participants and prizes will be given to overall winners of the 5k race. The kids 1 mile fun run starts at 8AM and 5k Run, Walk, & Roll begins at 8:30AM Wheelchair users are encouraged.

Bike to Work Week
Bike to Work Week continues finishing with Bike to Work Day this Friday. Morning group rides to downtown depart from Goodwood Park at 7AM and depart City Park at 7:30AM daily, with a Thursday after work relaxing fun ride at 6PM from Town Square. Daily specials for riders available from FRESH Salads + Wraps, Indigo Hotel, and Zolia Bistro Enoteca with free breakfast on Friday from Zeeland Street Market and Indigo Hotel. A free 1 week membership for Bike to Work Week participants is available at the YMCA Downtown Branch.

Baton Rouge Walls Project
It is the mission of the BR Walls Project to stimulate creativity and economic growth in our city by having artists paint key landmark walls in our downtown area. Phase I of the project will occur along 4th St. in the Arts and Entertainment District. Phase II will be in partnership with Lamar Advertising and showcase the work of photographers & graphic artists on large, vinyl banners fastened onto the sides of buildings throughout the city. THE TIME IS NOW, they need your help. The project has to raise $15,000 before April 26th, or the project's funding on Kickstarter goes away. If you want to help beautify Baton Rouge and inspire the generations to come DONATE today. This enhancement of the downtown landscape will reflect the creative endeavors already happening everyday inside these buildings.

Cruise the Mississippi - Visit Baton Rouge
Baton Rouge will once again be a tourist destination for Mississippi River cruise boats. On April 19th the Riverfront Dock will welcome its first of the 26 scheduled cruise boat stops this year. The city will play host to boats such as American Queen, Queen of the Mississippi, Yorktown Cruise Ship, and Blount Small Ship Adventures- bringing another wave of visitors to the heart of Baton Rouge.

Zumba - YMCA Spring Outdoor Fitness Series, a Latin inspired dance fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements is exercise in disguise. Also, Karmady Yoga, a new downtown business would like to introduce themselves to the downtown community by offering free yoga classes in the new North Boulevard Town Square! Whether you are interested in flexibility, strength, stress reduction or balance, this class will help you learn in a non-threatening way.

Strawberry Jam
Celebrate the peak of the Louisiana strawberry harvest with Strawberry Jam this Saturday at the Markets. Farmers and food artisans will feature all things strawberry including strawberry bread, strawberry tarts, strawberry ice cream, strawberry wine, strawberry jam, strawberry jalapeno barbecue sauce, and flats of sweet Louisiana strawberries. Kids can enjoy a berry special strawberry art activity as well as face painting. The Fresh from the Market cooking show will also feature recipes using locally grown strawberries. Chris Motto, Executive Chef of Mansur's on the Boulevard, will join host chef Celeste Gill for the weekly cooking demonstration at 10 am inside the North Street entrance to Main Street.
