Lunchtime Concert Series with Young Band Nation
Baton Rouge Music Studios is a school of music that helps tweens and teens discover their inner rock stars. This summer, BRMS has partnered with the Downtown Development District to hold a summer series that will feature teen singer/songwriters and bands from BRMS in the new North Boulevard Town Square. The concerts will be held at the Town Lawn Stage June 8, 22, 29 at 12PM. BRMS has also extended an invitation to young bands in the area who are not students of BRMS in order to give them the opportunity to perform in public. LASM's Irene Pennington Planetarium Rare Astronomical Event
Gather on the levee and witness the Transit of Venus, a once in a lifetime astronomical event. The Louisiana Art & Science Museum's Irene Pennington Planetarium is offering a special program in honor of this rare occasion. They will host a transit viewing opportunity using special solar-filtered glasses and provide insight to what transits are and why they occur. You won't get a second chance at this as the next set of transits will not appear for 105 years!

Sunday in the Park
Sunday in the Park returns! The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge announces a special summer 2012 installment of the Sunday in the Park Concert Series, "Summer in the Park." Sunday in the Park is a series of FREE outdoor concerts held in North Boulevard Town Square in downtown Baton Rouge. Four concerts will be held from 12PM until 3PM on Sunday afternoons on June 10, 17, 24, and July 1.

Small Business Summit
Mayor-President Melvin "Kip" Holden will hold a Small Business Development Summit to help local businesses explore possible contracting opportunities with the City-Parish. The summit will be held from 8AM until 1PM at the Baton Rouge River Center. The summit is free, but participants are asked to register in advance online. Click below to register.

Kids Rule the Movies at Manship Theatre
Join Manship Theatre each Wednesday in June as they present four films that became instant cartoon classics. Every movie ticket includes one bag of popcorn, choice of water or juice and a sweet snack! Kids are encouraged to wear their bathing suits to play in the fountains after the show. This week the Manship Theatre will be screening An American Tail, a classic animation about a young mouse on an adventure to find his family after losing them during their emigration to America.

Red Stick Farmers Market: Blueberry Bash
Blueberries take center stage this Saturday as the Markets celebrate Blueberry Bash. Pick up flats of this antioxidant rich fruit along with blueberry pies, tarts, pastries and even blueberry wine. Chef Elton Hyndman of Nino's Italian Restaurant will demonstrate summer recipes featuring local blueberries at the 10AM Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration inside Main Street Market. The hospitality booth will offer blueberry recipe cards along with blueberry giveaways throughout the morning. Kids can also enjoy a blueberry themed art activity.
