National CBS "Buzz Tour" Coming to Baton Rouge
CBS is visiting 60 cities in 60 days and the bus will roll into Baton Rouge to thank the loyal viewers of CBS and WAFB. There will be a meet and greet with fans, and you'll be able to collect beads good for discounts on dining downtown. Live music and a photo experience will round out the afternoon. CBS is excited about the opportunity to connect, in person, with WAFB viewers that have helped CBS become the most-watched network in nine of the past 10 seasons. Roger McGuinn at the Manship Theatre
Mr. Tambourine Man not only lived history, he made history with his fearless sense of experimentation. As the leader of the influential 60s group, The Byrds, he was on the leading edge, combining the rock beat of the Beatles with the folk sensibilities of Bob Dylan, to create the genre known as "folk-rock." Roger's solo career began in 1973 and has yielded 10 albums, a Grammy nomination, and extensive touring and performing for enthralled audiences ever since.

Red Stick Farmers Market celebrates National Farmers Market Week with the 2nd Annual Canning Competition. Shoppers can submit their homemade jams, jellies, pickles, or preserved fruits and vegetables to the Market Hospitality Booth until this Saturday, August 11th. The entry form and guidelines can be found at www.redstickfarmersmarket.org. Winners will be announced August 18th inside Main Street Market at 9 am. Spirit of '45 Observance
An observance will be held by the USS KIDD to commemorate the end of hostilities during World War II. The ceremony will be held across the street at the Old State Capitol. Guest speakers will include Ms. Nell Calloway, director of the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum of Louisiana; Ms. Cindy Bishop with HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation); and the Honorable Melvin "Kip" Holden, Mayor-President of the City-Parish of East Baton Rouge. The Baton Rouge Music Club Chorus will also be performing.
