Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra at the River Center
Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor opens with a strong declamation, spanning almost the entire range of the keyboard. The evening ends with Shostakovich's epic work, Symphony No. 10 in E minor, filled with musical symbolism that is craftily woven into the complex fabric of the original score. 17-year old Julliard student Colton Peltier joins the orchestra as a guest artist who has been part of the competition world since age 9. Enjoy the music experience provided by the talented orchestra artists!

Women & Wine at the Manship Theatre
Women & Wine on Wednesdays connects women for building new relationships and for re-connecting old ones, through a unique facilitated forum - an ideal opportunity for women in Baton Rouge who are striving to balance their own needs with those of their family, their jobs, and community involvement. The monthly events fulfill an ongoing and critical need for women to share resources and discover new opportunities as they transition through the many stages of their lives, providing access to a larger network of business, community, and social connections, for the growth of their professional and personal lives. Events are held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Tailgating Throwdown
Red Stick Farmers Market and Main Street Market will open at 7AM this Saturday only. Celebrate Louisiana farmers, food and culinary culture this Saturday at the 2nd Annual Tailgating Throwdown at the Red Stick Farmers Market from 9AM to 12PM. The public can sample delicious dishes using farm fresh ingredients for just $15. Bloody Marys and mimosas will also be available for purchase during this special fundraiser for the Red Stick Farmers Market and Main Street Market. Live event music will feature the John Gray Jazz Trio and zydeco musician Mel Chavis. A special Kids Zone, sponsored by Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, will feature fun games, gardening activities, a Kid's produce market and a balloon artist for just $5. Guest chef Michael Prados will also offer a kid friendly cooking demonstration at 10AM inside Main Street Market with samples.

White Cane Safety Day
This event will give the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired an opportunity to commemorate White Cane Safety Day by organizing a variety of cane activities which will include a downtown scavenger hunt. Educational handout and brochures will also be available.

2012 Hollydays Hustle
This will be a great kick off the Hollydays event. The Hollydays Hustle is a 1 mile fun run and a 5K race that will take place in Town Square. Programming includes space jumps for the kids, a DJ, and various vendors. Come out and support the Junior League of Baton Rouge this Saturday.

Ultimate Louisiana Party
Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor play their brand of Louisiana Reggae, Soul, Funk and Blues on their 2012 Ultimate Louisiana Party Tour. The band's style of music is described as a "gumbo" of flavors. They are well known for their tongue-in-cheek lyrics, dance tunes and touching ballads. Spend Saturday afternoon in beautiful Town Square listening to great music.

BR Walls Project is having a community celebration. Artist Joseph Konert's inspiration is still going & he will be painting live throughout the event this evening. Star Party on the Levee

Ongoing group fitness activities continue this fall includeing: Yoga Classes on the Town Lawn by Karmady Yoga, Happy's Running Club on Tuesday afternoons and Zumba classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. These events complement the launch of the Mayor's HealthyBR website that promotes fitness, and encourages community members to make healthy choices and join the movement to make Baton Rouge a healthier community.
