Coach Mainieri's a little concerned about he scattered showers in the area -- wants to get his batting practice in, and wants the guys to have a chance to participate in tonight's opening ceremonies at Rosenblatt. From what we've been told, there's a chance of rain each day until the middle of next week. Crossing my fingers that we don't have any delays like last season. Nothing can mess up a pitching rotation like a long rain delay in the third inning. After taking a team photo in front of the bronze statue at Rosenblatt, Mainieri along with Louis Coleman, Blake Dean and Jared Mitchell met with ESPN's personalities before the practice session. Coach always has great stories to tell. Today, he was talking to Sean McDonough about playing in the Cape Cod League in the summer of 1978, and going to Fenway Park on days off to watch the Red Sox play. While he was with ESPN, the rest of the team signed autographs for hundreds of kids. The Tigers just took the field, so I'm heading back there.
