Spanish Town Parade
Spanish Town's Annual Parade will rock out again on Saturday, March 1st at 12 noon. Parade begings and ends on State Capitol Drive and Spanish Town Road.This Krewe rolls with a fleet of 100 - 120 crazy-schemed floats or more. Dancing to the marching bands, hands poised for catching goodies, eclectic attire is the order of the day. Come early and bring your lawn chairs. You don't want to miss this Krewe and their parade!

Parade Party at the Museum
Join the State Museum for food, fun and one great parade! Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade Party hosted by Friends of the Capitol Park Museum formerly known as the Louisiana State Museum Friends March 1, 2014; 10AM - 2PM. $25 for non-members; Free for members and kids 12 and under; Student Tickets also available. [Everyone must bring a printed or digital proof of ticket purchase in order to get into the event including kids and members.]

Pre-Parade Breakfast at the Market
Meet friends at Main Street Market this Saturday before the Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade. Main Street Market will be OPEN from 8 am to noon with cafes serving breakfast as well as crepes, sandwiches, salads and Chinese food to go for the parade. The Red Stick Farmers Market, typically held outside Main Street Market, will not be open this Saturday due to the parade. .

Town Square Mardi Gras Party
Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor will headline an Ultimate Louisiana Party-Mardi Gras Celebration on Saturday, March 1 from 10:00AM to 6:00PM. The event will be held at the North Boulevard Town Square in Baton Rouge and feature live entertainment on two stages, marching bands, a vendor village and food. The event is free to the public.

Beauregard Town Mardi Gras
You are invited to join the annual Beauregard Town Mardi Gras Day celebration, Tuesday, March 4th, 11AM! This years event, 'Swamp'd in Beauregard,' will take place at the Beauregard Gallery & Bistro, located at 715 Europe Street. There will be live music, delicious food and a tentative guest appearance by "P'Maw" Causey, star of the new Animal Planet reality show "Swamp'd" whose art is currently displayed at the gallery. In keeping with tradition, the Civic Association will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. All ages are welcome, and please BYOB.

Lost Gonzo Band at Manship
Few bands are as storied as the legendary Lost Gonzo. Formed in 1973, the Gonzos were built around core members Gary P. Nunn, Bob Livingston, and John Inmon. All three had extensive credits playing with artists like Michael Martin Murphy and Ray Wylie Hubbard. As songwriters, their original tunes have been recorded by folks like Willie Nelson, Johnny Lee, Rosanne Cash, Larry Joe Taylor, David Allan Coe, Michael Martin Murphy, and Jerry Jeff Walker. Nunn, Livingston, and Inmon are together for a rare reunion of Texas music legends.

Free First Sunday
First Sunday is a cooperative endeavor offered by downtown museums for free admission to events on the first Sunday of each month. Visit the LASM, LSU MOA, and USS KIDD and explore all the wonderful things they have to offer for FREE!

Carnival Time at the Kidd
The USS KIDD Veterans Memorial & Museum will be FREE to the public on Sunday, March 2nd, in celebration of "Carnival Time at the KIDD."'First Free Sunday' is a partnership program among several downtown Baton Rouge museums that gives families an opportunity to visit free of charge one day a month. There will be bead giveaways, a Mardi Gras mask making station, carnival music, face painting, games, dance competitions, movies in the theatre, and much more throughout the day.
