St. James Friday Lenten Lunches
Opening on the first Friday in Lent, March 7, the St. James Episcopal Church invites you to Bishops Hall, at the corner of Florida and N. Fourth Street for Gumbo 2014! Volunteers at St. James will serve fabulous Gumbo lunches of either shrimp, or chicken and sausage gumbo, along with Sensation Salad, bread and a tasty dessert, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. each Friday. Dine-in customers can enjoy water, tea or coffee with their meal. Drive-thru pickup of boxed lunches is also available. Please call 225-387-5141 on Friday mornings between 8AM and 10AM, and it can be delivered right to your car on the Fourth Street pick-up lane!

Gallery Talk: Visual Blues
Join Natalie Malt Mead for a gallery talk on the exhibition "Visual Blues", for which she served as head curator. From March 8 through July 13, 2014, the LSU Museum of Art will present The Visual Blues, an exhibition exploring the rich interaction that took place between Harlem Renaissance artists and the wealth of blues and jazz music emanating from the Deep South and moving north. The Visual Blues exhibition comprises 58 paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculptures by 27 artists, illustrating the unprecedented outburst of artistic creativity during this period inspired by blues and jazz, dance and social clubs. The exhibition will also coincide with the Baton Rouge Blues Festival.

Red Stick Farmers Market will be open this Saturday with fun for the whole family. Enjoy music by the John Gray Jazz Trio while shopping for fresh veggies, artisan breads, honey, meats, goat cheese, plants, sweet treats and more! Head inside Main Street Market at 10AM to watch Restaurant IPO Executive chef Scott Varnadoe prepare a local dish during the Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration. The Arts Market also returns this Saturday with hand-made artisan gifts from over 70 artists from the Gulf region.

Baton Rouge Arts Market
Come out and celebrate spring fever and the arts in our community. The Baton Rouge Arts Market showcases original, hand-made works every first Saturday of the month from 8:00AM until 12:00PM at 5th and Main Streets. Shop for the spring season with artists from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Florida who will present original works of art in a variety of mediums including, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, textiles, photographs, glass, paintings, sculpture, hand-made soaps and so much more.

The 8th Annual LSU Night of French Cinema: une nuit blanche à Baton Rouge! - now a well-established Center tradition - this all-night cinematic event returns to the Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until dawn! Tickets for the event are $25 for general admission and $15 for students and include admission to all films and refreshments.
