St. Patty's Day at O' Square
In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, North Boulevard Town Square will be filled with classic and current Irish music for all to enjoy. The music will run from Friday, March 14th - Monday, March 17th. In addition, a classic Irish film - 'The Quiet Man' with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara will air on the Town Square beacon on Friday, March 14th at 2:00PM and 7:00PM and on Saturday March 16th at 7:00PM. Enjoy the O' Square while Downtown and dine from one of our many restaurants.

Cajun Comedy Tour at Manship
State Senator and Cajun comedian Jonatan Perry has been performing Cajun humor for over 10 years. He is joined by Cajun comedian Kent Gonsoulin for a hilarious night of clean Cajun humor at the Manship Theater. Kent Gonsoulin has performed all over the country for 22 years. Both have been entertaining audiences and sharing their Cajun point of view at comedy shows, corporate events and political events.

Lunchtime Lagniappe Series
Many people of this area have mixed bloodlines that include Native American, African, French and Creole descent, among others. Their culture, food, music and crafts are distinctly rich with flavors of the past and present. Sherry T. Broussard is a storyteller and author who recently completed Images of America: African-Americans in Lafayette and Southwest Louisiana. All programs begin at noon and are free and open to public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunches and may come and go as their schedules require.

Italian Louisiana
Join Louisiana's Old State Capitol for a lecture and book signing by author Alan Gauthreaux. At the close of the nineteenth century, Louisiana's ports hosted an influx of Italian immigrants. Like so many immigrant communities before them, acclimating to their new home was not so easy. Author and historian Gauthreaux documents the experience of those Italians who arrived in Louisiana over 100 years ago.

Heritage Lecture: Dr. Samuel Hyde
Hyde's presentation will be based on his Southern Review published book, Pistols and Politics, which focuses on the political and social turmoil of the Florida Parishes in the 19th century. The lecture is free for FHL members and $10 for guests. The event will be held in the East Room of the Old Governor's Mansion. Calandro's Select Cellars and Fine Wines will host the reception beginning at 6 p.m.

BRSO Investar Bank Masterworks

St. James Friday Lenten Lunches
James Episcopal Church invites you to Bishops Hall, at the corner of Florida and N. Fourth Street for Gumbo 2014! Volunteers at St. James will serve fabulous Gumbo lunches of either shrimp, or chicken and sausage gumbo, along with Sensation Salad, bread and a tasty dessert, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. each Friday. Dine-in customers can enjoy water, tea or coffee with their meal. Drive-thru pickup of boxed lunches is also available. Please call 225-387-5141 on Friday mornings between 8AM and 10AM, and it can be delivered right to your car on the Fourth Street pick-up lane!

Pepito's Story - Debbie Allen
Pepito's Story was commissioned by the Kennedy Center, with choreography by Emmy award-winner Debbie Allen, the creator of many sold-out Kennedy Center productions, including Brothers of the Knight. The Washington Post calls it a "magical, heart-warming tale (with) high-energy dancing that makes you want to join in!" All the shows will take place in the Manship Theatre.

Engineering Day at LASM
Have fun and connect with your children as you become novice engineers during this hands-on engineering workshop. This program is exclusively designed for children ages 6-12 and requires adult participation. Space is limited. Participation is offered on a first come, first served basis, with sign-in beginning at 10AM on March 15. Workshops will be offered on the third Saturday of every month through the end of May.
