Miss USA at River Center
Baton Rouge is pleased to welcome the 2014 Miss USA competition! The LIVE event will take place at the River Center Sunday, June 8th at 7PM. North Boulevard Town Square Media Beacon will also be airing the entire event!

Summer Programs at Expressway Park
Mural Arts Program, Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:30 am - 12:30pm, ages 7-12 (max 25), Registration required (FREE). Participants will paint murals on the front of the recreation center. Begins-June 10

Summer Playground, Monday -Thursday, 1-4 pm, FREE, No registration required.

Summer Arts Camp ( 1-4 p.m. or later ). Seeking artist to teach kids sewing, poetry, dance, puppetry, culinary arts, painting, juggling/clowning, keyboard, Voice, DJ, and etc. Start date TBA.

B.R. Ballet Theatre's Youth Ballet at River Center Library
The Youth Ballet will present an adaptation of the classic ballet, Firebird, which is the Russian legend of a hunter who wanders into the garden of an evil monster. Ages 5 and up. About 45 minutes. Groups are required to register.

Jack Mitchell Collection at Manship Theatre
"The Stories Behind the Photographs"- by curator Tony Walsh of the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts at St. Johns River State College. There will be a slide show and lecture in the Main Theatre followed by a personalized tour of the exhibit in The Gallery at 2:00pm. (Free for members- $5.00 for non-members)

Fresh Fest at the Market
Fresh Fest kicks off this Saturday with Dairy Day. The Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration will host chef Troy Deano, Executive chef of City Pork restaurant. Chef Deano will feature fresh goat and cow's milk cheeses from the Market in a seasonal recipe. Shoppers can also sample homemade ice cream from Feliciana's Best Creamery. Face painting will be available for kids.

The Baton Rouge Arts Market is an open-air market and cultural event held on the first Saturday of each month (excluding January & May).The Arts Market is held in conjunction with the weekly Red Stick Farmers Market and the 6-day-a-week Main Street Market and is a project of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

Living History Day at USS Kidd
The KIDD's "Living History Day: See History Come Alive" will incorporate historical tools, activities and dress into interactive presentations that will give observers a sense of stepping back in time. USS KIDD museum and ship tours are available at our regular admission prices of: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children ages 5-12.

Animal & Plants Science Center at River Center Library
Come to River Center Branch Library to explore our Science Center! Children will learn what is in a seed, the different parts of plants, the different parts of insects, and will learn different animal tracks. There will also be a themed crossword puzzle and a pig puzzle to work at the library, or to take home to complete. Children ages 3 and up. Groups are required to register.
