Expressway Park Virtual Groundbreaking
Construction has begun at BREC's Expressway park. This is the first phase of the Downtown Greenway and will eventually connect City Park to Downtown. BREC has already completed renovations to the Expressway Recreation Center. Come check out all the fun this summer!

Heritage Lecture: Randy Harelson at Old Governor's Mansion
The Foundation for Historical Louisiana will sponsor its Heritage Lecture on Thursday, June 12, at the Old Governor's Mansion. The lecture will be presented by Pointe Coupee preservationist and author Randy Harelson and is entitled "On the Trail of Naturalist William Bartram".

Currant/Current at Manship Theatre
Local contemporary dance-theatre company Of Moving Colors offers a sneak peak into the Capital City from the perspective of nine different choreographers in a show that was inspired by the atmosphere, culture and happenings of Baton Rouge today. Choreographers include Sandra Parks, Irene Rampino, Christine Chrest, Courtney Landry and Artistic Director Garland Goodwin Wilson.

Jack Mitchell Collection at Manship Theatre
"The Stories Behind the Photographs"- by curator Tony Walsh of the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts at St. Johns River State College. There will be a slide show and lecture in the Main Theatre followed by a personalized tour of the exhibit in The Gallery at 2:00pm. (Free for members- $5.00 for non-members)

Fresh Fest at the Market
Fresh Fest kicks off this Saturday with Dairy Day. The Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration will host chef Troy Deano, Executive chef of City Pork restaurant. Chef Deano will feature fresh goat and cow's milk cheeses from the Market in a seasonal recipe. Shoppers can also sample homemade ice cream from Feliciana's Best Creamery. Face painting will be available for kids.

Fox Louisiana Productions will be filming scenes on Third Street next Saturday June, 21st. They will also be closing portions of Third and Convention Streets periodically for prep work leading up to June 21st.
